Implementing a Pain Optimization Program into Practice

This program will review the role of a pain optimization service in clinic practice. This practical session will explore the common issues found in pain regimens, and address sustainable solutions ranging from opioid cycling, long-acting and short-acting opioids, and adjunct agents.  Practical tools for assessment will be reviewed including the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI).

Objectives:

• Review the pharmacotherapeutic options for pain management.
   
• Explore the tools and forms necessary for implementing a pain service into practice.
   
• Discuss program sustainability including documentation, communication, and marketing.
